Comprised of four spirited 13 year old boys – Prodigy, Roc Royal, Ray Ray and Princeton – Mindless Behavior employs an insane sleek and futuristic fashion style, epic dance moves, and global-ready pop songs. On July 10th, they begin BET’s 106 & Park’s Closer To My Dreams Tour featuring Lil Twist, Tyga, Diggy Simmons, Trevante, and Jawan Harris. Brand Your Music got the chance to visit Mindless Behavior on set while shooting for their new single “Mrs. Right.”
How would you describe the overall Mindless Behavior brand in terms of style and sound?
Princeton: Our sound is R&B and Pop and our style is urban fashion forward, our manager, Keisha, picks everything out.
Ray Ray: And everything we do is mindless.
Explain the name Mindless Behavior?
Ray Ray: Mindless Behavior is a lifestyle and it gives us the freedom to express ourselves, to have fun and not care what other people think about us.
Princeton: Yeah, anybody can be mindless if you’re 30 or 3.
Ray Ray: My grandmother is mindless, she just turned 70.
Princeton: Yeah my dog is mindless.
Roc Royal: Being mindless is for everyone.
You’re currently shooting the video for Mrs. Right, talk a little bit about your influences for the song and who you worked with on the song.
Princeton: Diggy Simmons is on the song. Mike Epps and LL Cool J (who plays our teacher) are in the video. Our producer Walter and Candice, our songwriter, came up with the concept for the song actually when we first joined the group. It was me and Roc Royal two and a half years ago and one of the kids in the audition said “wouldn’t it be dope if we made a song that talked about girls from all types of different places” and then from there we started writing and here we are now.
How did you all come to be a group?
Princeton: Two and a half years ago we auditioned and me and Roc Royal made it out of 600 kids. Then our choreographer Dave Scott found Prodigy on YouTube and then like a month later Ray Ray auditioned and we started working with him.
