Russell Simmons plans on reaching and inspiring Millennials through fashion. The hip-hop mogul’s latest clothing brand, “Argyleculture” which is available in Macy’s, is gaining momentum among urban fashion selections. Simmons pioneered urban fashion in the 1990’s with his “Phat Farm” brand, opening the doors for other well known brands such as FUBU, Rocawear, and Sean Jean. “Phat Farm” (Phat Fashions) was sold in 2004 to clothing producer Kellwood in 2004 for $140 million.
Simmons says his new line caters to the new young professional in which he believes department stores need to focus on if they want to remain relevant in the market. He recently presented his ArgyleCulture collection at Helen Mills Theatre for the New York Fashion Week.
